House Dolphins in Kinira, on the map of Thassos.

«Dolphins Houses» are laying totally on the beach. This map shows the very exact location of our facilities, but for privacy and security reasons, photos on Google Maps are older than five years. So, our apartments and studios are not shown.

The famous lacy beaches of Thassos meet the lush vegetation of Kinira, in a unique concert of harmony.

How to come:

Very offten ferry boat departures are bridging the island of Thassos with the main land. Especially for the summer time, there are all the time ship arrivals and departures in the port of Keramoti from and to Thassos. If you came by an airplane in the "Great Alexander" airport of Chrisoupolis, a taxi may fetch you to the harbor in ten minutes for a very cheap price. If you are coming by car through "Egnatia Odos", North Greece's main route by land, just follow the signs "to Keramoti", in the hight of Chrisoupolis.

In about thirty-five minutes, you will be debarking yourself in the harbor of Limenas or else said Thassos as it is the Capital of the island. Being the touristic center of Thassos, Limenas, rich of history, gathers almost all the public servises, banks and other authorities. A rather noisy town, really graphic, combines the old with the new, in a location chosen by the ancient Greeks for its advantages. Don't miss to visit the Ancient Theatre (unique in north Greece, because it's the only one built with the same architectonic and acoustic principals like the Theatre of Epidavros) and the Museum of "Ambassade de France en Grèce", the French Archaeological School. If you don't have your transport vehicle near-by, here (and of course everywhere else in Thassos Island) is a good place for you hire one.

As you come out of the harbor of Limenas, move left (to the East), towards Panagia. Panagia, is a very traditional and graphic village of Thassos. One of the oldest villages, being the Capital of the island for a while, after Theologos, in about 1800. Narrow streets and Macedonian architecture, in a beautiful location, full of warmness and colors.

Right after, very close, Potamia comes by. Known in Greece for its famous carnival, graphical, sunk in the green colors of nature, lays at the very poit where the land of marble and pines, hugs the infinite sea. Homer mentions that this sea is place of the Sirens, who entice men on their ships, as they are passing by. It's true drivers. In every turn of this blessd land, keep your eyes on the road and do not gaze around. It is really dangerus.

Potamia is being followed by Kinira. If you are already charmed by the landscape, here you stand still. You will stop just before you enter Kinira, to take pictures and look to the Aegean.

Kinira is nowadays adminstrated by Theologos. It is well known from the ancient times for two reasons: The first one is the gold and the gold-mines that Herodotus had visited in the 5th century B.C., in his three-year residence in Thassos (one should read his notes about the Thassian clima). So, he writes:

I have seen these mines by my eyes. The best they that where discovered by the Phinicians, when they had come with Thassos to settle in the island that took his name. The (gold)mines of Thassos are located in between areas Enira and Kinira, right across Samothraki. It is a big mountain which has been dugged all over, as people look around for the metal. (Herodotus 6, 47, free translation).

The second one, the famous «Thassian wine». Ancient Enira (and Astris in Southern Thassos), produced this famous wine, which was being served in the Symposiums around the whole Known World. The conditions of winery in Thassos were such, that Thassos was the first known society having laws about the production and distribution of it. Here are the oldest Greek Laws, setting the trading of wine and vinegar:
